Is there a life after booking?

Casamarket is the app for short term rentals, connecting hosts, guests and local third party providers.

The CEO and the CCO of this Antler founded start-up wanted a straightforward, inclusive and thoughtful app based on Tailwind.

The UX for the guest flow should

  • be user-centered
  • be friendly and informative
  • limit the cognitive load

I was provided with a solid market research, including competitors such as Duve, Viator and Airbnb..

I defined the main UX purchase flow and was in charge of the early stage visual design.

A quantitative and qualitative research was conducted on a sample of 21 Booking and Airbnb users and 7 experts (tour guides and hosts).

Meet Roseann and Joel, our User Personas

Roseann, 32

Roseann is always on the move, she travels on business but she needs to keep her routine away from home.

She is interested in tips about the nearest gym, and the local market to buy healthy food.

Joel, 36

Joel is a young parent in a lively family. He needs to plan ahead to meet the needs of his children.

When he travels, he looks for the easiest way to take his family from the airport to the hotel. Setback-free.

Everything. A touch away.

The home screen was designed to create empathy with the guests.

The main info about the stay, the period and a link to the map, were placed right a top to ensure visibility

The host's services follow in a carousel inviting users to discover more.

Testing and iterations to prevent cognitive loads

My stay section was originally foldable inside the recap section.

In this iteration, it was given a space of its own right!

Your Stay in one place. Organized

From My Stay, oel can check if he booked a late check out, a dinner or the air-transfer pick up hour.

Roseann can access the trip plan where all the items booked for her stay are stored.

Vouchers and tickets? We've got you covered

11 in 21 testers wondered about the possibility to pay third parties through the app.

An easy-access voucher was introduced to book and pay partener providers.

Scroll and book in two screens.

Great attention was paid to meet accessibility and keep the purchasing flow short.

Scrolling calendar tiles and time buttons allow an easy booking process without unnecessaries steps.

Pay without forgetting what!

In longer payment solutions, users loose track of booking details.

With this one-line credit card form, users won't need to scroll up and down, avoiding cognitive overload.

Working with

Upon the CTO's request, the core design system was designed using Tailwind to help scalability and a fast front-end development.

I selected a range of typeface fonts size, colors and shadow to create identity and hierarchy

A thoughtful, straightforward and inclusive identity

The brand identity is intended to create a seamless yet unique experience with the major booking platforms.

Extended Light Blee 500 reminds the freshness of clear blue waters and mountain air, while Extended Rose 500 gives a modern touch.

Prototype and results

An excelent feedback was given to the recap card and short booking flow.

17 testers out of 21 found the one-line payment form really convenient.

5 experts out of 7 were enthusiastic about the possibility to accept QR cashless payments.
